Even though the season is just starting is anyone else thinking Bonnyville made a mistake in getting ride of Pister and Steve Adams who was there head scout for the last 3 years. All they seem to be doing is getting worse. Any thoughts?

I talked to a couple of players last night and they are learning Chad`s new system and when they start getting used to the new rules, they`ll be fine. All the scouts at the game were impressed at what a good skating team they have....takes time I guess.

The Canmore Eagles are very happy to have Steve Adams in their organization and hopefully he will be able to bring some quality talent to the team. Steve knows the league very well and is very familiar with the midget talent in the Edmonton area.

Pister was a coach that needed a job. To build a Team and a reputation of developing both a program and the players you need a Team on the Top Level of the Club, Bonnyville isn't there yet, but might get there, unfortunatley good talent like Pister and players will be and have been the losers. As they say in plumbing shit runs down hill!

There is no question in my mind that Coach Mercier would have brought last years team further that what Pister did.

Absolutely....Pister with a stacked team still couldn't keep a job. The pontiac board kept him way to long but at least they finally learned what most of us have known all along.

Good luck Mercier.

Time will tell, fir the last few years the Team has had some good runs and standings only to **** the bed come playoffs, like some kinda bad team chemistry. No question the talent has been there and even the players that have been traded away blossomed on other teams, so you gotta be looking at Team chemistry and coaching for the answer, Dec 1 and on will tell the tale.

I agree that time will tell. But who did the trade away over the last 3 years that has gone on to do well? They traded Pickering for Wiwchar staight up. Here is my question Why is Easton playing with Isleys? He played incredably well with Wright and got 20 g's on the 3rd line. Now on the second lone he is of to a slow start playing with players who take bad penties too frequently. Why not make the change? An upgrade in goal is needed as well.

Theres no doubt easton deserves better, but both Isley's have alot to offer when they go hard... It's easy to see, down the road, that those 3 guys will adjust and play strong together

now don't get me wrong, I've only live in Bonnyville for two years, but have gone to a lot of games, and up until this year, I've been entertained. I thought the last couple years, the team was great, and this year, I don't know if it's the rules, less talent, or less toughness, but so far, not so good. Now, what I want to know is why all the abuse for this guy. I don't care if he was let go or for what reason, but it looks to me like he did a good job. If you look on the history part of the Pontiacs website, the team record has never been better than the last few years. Some of you say he had a stacked team. Who put together this stacked team, and if the guy has no class, why did these 'stacked' players come and play for him instead of going elsewhere? And, a whole lot of those players from last years stacked team were and are back, yet they don't looks so stacked this year. My kid played some junior hockey before I moved here, so I think I understand how it works. Looks to me like this guy did a good job where no one else had done before, except for one other guy like ten years ago, and for one season.

Brett Cox is a much much better coach than Pister could dream of.

Iam from Lloyd didnt care for Pister but he did bring in these players to have a stacked team and he did have one of the better records Bonny has had in a while so why do so many people think he is so terrible.

Easton does deserve better. There is no question in alot of people minds that he should of been one with a letter on the front of his Jersey. As for the Isleys, Logan is a great all around player that deserves a scholarship over his brother Lucas. Lucas still plays like he is in Bantams, he doesn't pass when he should and he takes stupid penalties. To me, he hasn't lived up to the high potential the team placed on him, its a local thing as usual. Lucas should be moved back a line or 2 and put Wright up with Logan and Easton, that would be a good line that alot of teams would fear. Just because a player is local, doesn't mean they should be on the first 2 lines.

With out spending hours on it a lot of the players traded away flourished else where and went on to Scholarships, but that is hockey players move or get traded to Teams that want them and that are a fit. The problem with the Pontiacs was Pister knew talent, could convince a lot of players to come to a remote area to play, but Pister was never a hockey player, and then when Fontaine showed up although he played hockey and thought he was the "Man" he is not a coach that players at that level respected, just a little wet behind the ears. So slow start yes, lets see what the Coaching staff can do in the real Season which starts Dec 1.

I disagree with your comments on Pister. Yes he did attract talent for players, but he also attracted alot of scouts that listened to Pister. Although most local players were receiving scholarship offers well before non locals should of based on Calibre of play, which tells me Pister was under pressure from local parents and board members to push for local players. There are many rumours going around why Pister was released, however he did have a good team he created last year and all the players played well for him. If he tried disciplining them by benching kids, the parents would address him later in confrontational measures. Basically, the parents and BoD were running the show. We'll see what a local coach can do, but I have a feeling the hockey parents will get involved with him once he tries to discipline a local player.

Why did Chad Mercier not bring in his own coaching staff ?
If you are from Bville - are you guaranteed more ice time?
Who is running the Show - team management or the BD?
Exactly what purpose is Fontaine Sr. serving?
If your last name is Isley, are you afforded more playing time?
Can a team win it all if local players are treated differently than those from outside the region?

Just asking.

What is the story behind this guy? Was he a good coach or did he have lots of baggage? His numbers looked good but it seemed that he couldn't win the big one - why - lack of respect from the team or does he just freeze?
Why was he released - was he goofy with the players or the community or as mentioned in some threads - the board moved him for politics - what really happened? It looked like he could recruit and get scholarships but again could he win the big one?
It seems that the change of coaching didn't help the Pontiacs last year and the future may not look so bright.
What is the call for the Pontiacs next year?

Jeff was a players coach, he had there respect.....some rumours put his personal life in the limelight, but I think he went against the local philosiphy, Jeff wouldn`t back down, as well he shouldn`t have.......I hope my Yak`s can pull it together, cause I ain`t cheering for the Kodiaks.....lol...

3 years and we want to go after the group that has been there 1 year maybe it takes time to clean up the mess of pister and adams?
Canmore should be happy with the Royals play not the recruitment of Adams?
