when you're struggling as a team the first place to start is to cut down on the goals against. Every player has to think defense and make the defensive decision when there's an option. You don't take risks unnecessarily and you play very basic albeit boring hockey i.e. chip it out, ice it if need be, one man deep and two high aka trap. If you can keep the opposition to 1 or 2 goals you have a great chance to win every game but you don't give up 12 goals and win many games. Also staying out of the box is key. If guys aren't prepared to do that then you play guys who are; anything to win at this point.

Old Feller, that is all good advice in yesterdays game...In todays game you need to have your special teams at the top of their game ! You need to work on your PP and PK more now then ever! Your D-men have to have quick feet your forwards have to force the play at both ends of the rink!

Slapshot, defense still wins games any year, any where, any time; and note I did say that staying out of the box is key. If you make defensive decisions you don't have to try to recover by hooking etc. which in today's game certainly draws penalties. No question that specialty teams are important and currently a problem area for the team but I was pointing out a place to start, I didn't say it was the total answer.
